A singer of tremendous versatility, Janellen Farmer received her musical training at the world renowned Curtis Institute of Music.
Under the tutelage of artist/mentors such as Boris Goldovsky, Delia Rigal, Margaret Harshaw, James DiBlaisis, Mildred Miller and Era Tognoli, her career has spanned the musical world from grand opera to jazz. A regional finalist of the Metropolitan Opera Young Artist competition, she has sung operatic roles fromMozart to Verdi.
Her foray into the pop genre began with a series of successful concerts given to SRO audiences in the Philadelphia area. Janellen continued to expand her repertoire to include songs of the folk, rock and jazz styles first with guitarist/singer Frank Baldo, and most recently with the Phil Giordano Trio. She has performed songs by artists as diverse as Joni Mitchell, Steely Dan, Tuck and Pattie, George Gershwin and Antonio Carlos Jobim. In March, 1999 Janellen released her first jazz CD, "Lazy Afternoon" with the Phil Giordano Trio.
