Performing as a female illusionist has come naturally to the androgynous Jimmy James, but after several years of performing in drag, including a pivotal appearance on the Phil Donahue Show in 1987 which propelled both him and the art of female impersonation into the consciousness of mainstram America, he has perfected his illusions into a concentrated distillate, using only his voice, with simple facial expressions and movements, and perhaps the tiniest prop, to effect transformations into Barbra Bette, Marilyn, Judy, Cher (and Sonny), Eartha Kitt, Karen Carpenter, Patsy Cline, Mae West, Billie Holliday, and a range of others ...sharing stories as he goes along. With the success of his hit dance single, "Who Wants to be Your Lover?' in 1998, he also found his own recording voice, following its release with "Spanish Eyes Crying," "It's Morning Again," and "The One and Many Voices of Jimmy James."
