John-Alec Briggs was born and raised on a farm in Arkansas. Like most farmboys, he yearned for a career on the stage. While completing a degree in Vocal Performance at Ouachita Baptist University in Arkadelphia, Arkansas (where do they get these names?), he worked summers at a local amusement park as a singer/dancer. It is interesting to note that he actually graduated from a Baptist college, despite breaking every single rule they had. Often. John-Alec then followed the most obvious path for an aspiring musician from Arkansas. Opera. Hoping for the most successful career possible, he went where all opera singers go - Louisiana. Specifically, Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge to pursue a Master of Vocal Performance. There he studied with Martina Arroyo (they actually do have real opera singers in Lousiana, see?). While in Louisiana he appeared in several operas, including Manon, Gianni Schicci, The Tales of Hoffman, and L’Elisir d’Amor. John-Alec has also been seen in Don Giovanni, The Old Maid and the Thief and Amahl and the Night Visitors.
