A unique storyteller, fusing jazz with cabaret and chanson to create vibrant explorations of the personal and political.

Admired by Wynton Marsalis and Elton John, she has performed at 10 Downing Street and the Edinburgh Festival as well as live on BBC Radio and at top jazz clubs in the UK and overseas.

Ruthie’s eclectic repertoire includes French chanson (Piaf, Brel), German kabaret (Weill, Hollaender) and swing/latin standards as well as some startling jazz arrangements of Benjamin Britten, Pink Floyd, Stephen Sondheim and Astor Piazzolla.

Ruthie Culver’s debut album, “Refashioned” is released on the Purring Records label in January 2008. It features her regular band, led by double bassist Jonny Gee, with special guests including top UK saxophonist Mick Foster, Italian trumpeter Fulvio Sigurta and Columbian salsa superstar Roberto Pla.
