Angela Shultz was born and raised in the Show Me State and is thrilled to now call New York City home. She began her performing career playing Annie Ant in her elementary production of Will The Real Annie Ant Please Stand Up? We’ll skip the obvious “theatre bug” metaphor.

After attending Missouri State University and Texas Tech, Angela finally (to the relief of her parents) graduated with a Bachelor of Music in Voice from Missouri Baptist University. She made her professional theatre debut at New Line Theatre in St. Louis playing Marta in Company, directed by Scott Miller. In New York, she was in the ensembles for The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari for the Midtown International Theatre Festival and Beginnings: The Music of Brett Kristofferson at Don’t Tell Mama. Favorite roles include Sister Hubert in Nunsense and Nunsense 2, Reverend Mother in Nunsense, Martha in The Secret Garden, Joanne and Sonia in Godspell, Snoopy in You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown, Ruthie/Ned in Bat Boy and Asaka in Once on this Island. Most recently, she appeared in the critical and audience hit Closer Than Ever for Avalon Theatre Company in St. Louis as Woman 2, otherwise known as Miss Byrd.

In addition to performing credits, Angela has been an active teacher in the private studio as well as teaching communications and voice for Jefferson College and Fontbonne University. For 3 years, she served as vocal instructor on the faculty at the performing arts academy of the regional theatre Stages St. Louis. Angela has also worked as music director/pianist for many shows including Little Shop of Horrors at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville and Quilters at Fontbonne University. As a lyricist, she contributed additional lyrics for Brett Kristofferson’s musical The Red House, which won an honorable mention at the American College Theatre Festival at the Kennedy Center. She also wrote book and lyrics for In Her Place, with music by Kristofferson. Angela graduated with a Masters in Theatre Education in 2006. She has also participated in workshops with Barbara Cook, Sally Mayes, Rick Jensen and Lina Koutrakos. Angela makes her solo cabaret debut with The Whole Wide World!
